Eukanuba y el AKC – Sacamos lo mejor de cada raza

Founded in 1884, the American Kennel Club (AKC) is the largest purebred dog registry in the world. Along with its nearly 5,000 licensed and member clubs and affiliated organizations, the AKC advocates for the purebred dog as a family companion, advances canine health and well-being, works to protect the rights of all dog owners and promotes responsible dog ownership.

The relationship between Eukanuba and the AKC dates back to the early 1970s when Eukanuba became available to breeders in the United States. Because of its innovative approach and high content and quality of animal protein, many dog professionals called Eukanuba "the secret weapon of champion breeders." Soon, many breeders and important figures within the AKC saw Eukanuba as a potential partner in promoting the health and well-being of dogs and high standards in dog breeding.

After Procter & Gamble purchased The Iams Company in 1999, Eukanuba and the AKC decided to strengthen their relationship by launching the highly acclaimed AKC/Eukanuba National Championship. Over the years, the AENC became one of the most prestigious events for breeders and enthusiasts in the sport of purebred dogs. The event has evolved into a showcase for breeders, the backbone of our fancy, with close to 50% of the entry in the Bred-by competition. This event, televised by the Animal Planet TV channel, brings millions of viewers to the screen each year.

In 2007, as a special attraction to the National Championship, Eukanuba launched the first edition of the Eukanuba World Challenge. This competition has grabbed the attention of breeders around the world, not only as the unique international competition for dogs held in the USA, but also because of the lineup of the world's best dogs, who compete for the title of the Eukanuba World Challenge Champion.

"The AKC/Eukanuba National Championship is a unique experience for any dog lover - whether they are watching it on TV or enjoying it in person," said Ron Menaker, Show Chairman. "With nearly 400,000 square feet of event space, 3,000 dogs in competition, dozens of vendors, 148 educational displays, numerous demonstrations and now 40 international competitors in our Eukanuba World Challenge event, there is nothing that can compare to this complete canine extravaganza."

"The AKC/Eukanuba National Championship is a phenomenal event that brings together the best breeders, handlers and champions to encourage and celebrate the excellence of dogs," said Dan Rajczak, general manager, Procter & Gamble Pet Care. "Alongside our partners - AKC and Animal Planet - we're proud to be part of one of the most prestigious and well-respected dog shows and to provide a showcase that allows the world to appreciate these amazing animals."

This successful partnership between Eukanuba and the AKC is a great example for all dog lovers on how two organizations, passionate about purebred dogs, work together to promote magnificence of dogs, responsible breeding and advancements in dogs' health.
